What happens to what you give it.
AfterCall only works because you hand it your lectures, notes and study materials. Here is exactly where each one goes — in the same words as our Privacy Policy.
A recording
What happensMade with your phone's or laptop's microphone — no bot joins anything. The audio is sent to Deepgram for transcription with speaker labels, then the transcript is summarised by Anthropic's Claude.
ThenThe audio isn't kept once processing finishes. The transcript and record stay in your account until you delete them.
Typed or pasted notes
What happensSent to Anthropic's Claude to be structured into a record.
ThenAnthropic processes this under its API terms and does not use it to train its models.
A photo of notes
What happensSent to Claude only to read the text off it.
ThenThe photo is then discarded.
A document
What happensA PDF, Word or PowerPoint file is read directly on our server.
ThenIts text isn't sent to Claude until you choose to clean it up.
A YouTube link
What happensOnly the video's id is sent to YouTube, to read that video's own public captions.
ThenNo video or audio file is downloaded.
AI Tutor lessons
What happensWhat you type to the AI Tutor is sent to Claude so it can teach you.
ThenYour lessons stay in your account, so you can pick them up later.
Exam Coach materials
What happensYour syllabus, notes, lectures and answers are sent to Claude to build your study plan and practice, and to mark your answers.
ThenThey stay in your account. Delete a subject and its plan, activities and progress go with it.
- Delete. Deleting a note or recording in the app removes it immediately.
- Export. Export your notes to CSV whenever you like.
- Leave. Ask us to delete your account and everything in it — usually done within a few business days.
- Never sold. We don't sell your data or share your notes, recordings or study materials with any other third party, except as required by law.
Ask before you record.
Recording someone without their consent is illegal in many places, and many schools and universities have their own rules. AfterCall asks you to confirm everyone knows before every recording, but following the law and those rules is your responsibility.
Read before you rely on it.
Notes, summaries, transcripts, study plans, practice questions, model answers and marking are written by AI and can contain mistakes — a misheard name, a detail summarised loosely. Review anything before you depend on it.
